Follow in the footsteps of ancient fishermen
Length: 900 m.
Difficulty: 0
This 900-meter trail begins in the picturesque fishing district of El Pris and runs along a wide and easy path that leads to the quiet beach of El Pris. This coastal enclave had great historical relevance, since in the 16th century it was used as a wharf for the wood extracted from the Agua García forest. From that function derives the toponym Puerto de la Madera, which designates the neighborhood located right on the cliffs.
Crossing the beach, you can see one of the oldest buildings in the area: a water gallery, built to supply the fields of Puerto de la Madera, Valle de Guerra and Tejina.
During the tour, the native vegetation accompanies the visitor with a rich sample of typical flora of the Canary coast: cactus, cornicales, sea buckthorn, magarzas, tabaibas, coastal verodes, among other species adapted to this marine environment.
The route culminates in the Mesa del Mar housing development, from where, through a tunnel, you can access the promenade of Las Arenas beach, extending to the Sagrero puddle, right at the mouth of the Guayonje ravine. At the top, the silhouette of the well-known Castillo de Óscar Domínguez, former summer home of the family of the famous surrealist painter, stands out.
