Living history among balconies and rooftops

Located in the heart of Tacoronte, La Casona is one of those buildings that speak of the past just by looking at them. Built in the 18th century by Juan Pérez, clergyman of Santa Catalina, its original purpose was to house the chaplaincy of the local parish.

Its name does not deceive: the imposing size and elegant presence of this manor house make it one of the most outstanding properties in the historic center. The white facade, adorned with wooden elements, boasts a magnificent balcony that embraces the three upper windows, just under a traditional roof that completes the picture.

With the passage of time, La Casona changed its function and owners. For years it was the seat of the town court and, after several private hands, it was finally acquired by the Cabildo of Tenerife, which today watches over its conservation.

To walk in front of La Casona is to encounter centuries of local history, with echoes of justice, religion and daily life that continue to resonate within its wood and lime walls.
