The historical and spiritual soul of Tacoronte
With its imposing bell tower as a visual guide in the historic center, the Parish of Santa Catalina Mártir de Alejandría is one of the great heritage treasures of Tacoronte. The present temple, with three naves, is built over the old hermitage built by the first settlers of the place.
Its foundation dates back to no less than 1545, and only five years later, in 1550, the decision was made to replace that first hermitage with a more solid church in keeping with the growing community.
Today, this venerable building is not only a center of religious life, but also a symbol of local identity. Its historical and artistic value has been officially recognized with the declaration of Cultural Interest, which makes it an essential visit for those who wish to connect with the past and the Canarian tradition.
